I, this day choose to light a candle
every night to show you
my love's true light.

Hoping you can see it near or far,
while I'm at home praying
and wishing on a star.

I whine for friends,
yet now I see that no matter how lonely I am,
you are my true friend indeed.

Only you could ever fill
the empty space in my heart,
only you can love me,
only you can play the part.

I may feel lonely, scared and afraid,
but God will guide me
through these war bound days.

He reassures me that He is near,
He is the friend I seek
when you are not here.

I cry and I cry...
I feel so alone,
but then I pray to God
and He tells me
that you and I are His own.

He is our only hope,
He is our only prayer,
He will lead and guide us,
He is the one who truly cares.

Though we are so very far apart,
God will keep us,
He will fill our empty hearts.

So, I light a candle to represent
love's true light
and I pray for you
each and every night.

I wish on a star just to be able to
look up and see what God created,

I guess He lights His own candle
to show you
His love's light
and to guide your weary heart to
Him each and every night.
