Our country has called and we answered with pride,
but like many before you left your bride.
The distance between us causes us pain,
and we know, chances given we'd still do the same.
For Americans live in the shadow of greatness,
men who have died for the freedom they gave us
and the least we can do to honor the past
is to make sure the freedoms they gave us will last.
Our separation, unpleasant it may be,
is worth is to all of those that made it free.
And so, your family, your shildren, your wife,
those who love you, who value your life,
wait, pray, support and remember.
We spread the news about our service member,
so that all will know how proud we are
to know you - to us you're a star.
Especially to me, the wife waiting at home,
the one who is never far from a phone.
I dream of again resting my head on your shoulder.
But I am proud to be married to a soldier.
